Learning to Navigate A Broken World
I am thankful for the ever-winding Colorado nature hike that works to repair my uneasy spirit. Our society is grappling with so many new realities this year. It feels like our world is quickly imploding from the inside at what feels like a tipping point. And at the moment, it doesn’t feel like it is going to get better, it is hard to find a positive view.
I admit the racist acts on another human is hard for me to comprehend because I want there to be an answer that will make these heinous acts come to an end. I am overwhelmed by the violence and I am desperate to find a way for us to feel safe and at peace. No matter what our skin color is. This country does not feel safe. Our country is filled with strangers that have so much evil in their hearts. Our country is built on this evil. How do we erase so many evil ideals that are ingrained in so many? America was built on so much racism, how do we evolve from it?
“When we look at modern man, we have to face fact… the modern man suffers from a kind of poverty of the spirit, which stands in glaring contrast to his specific and technological abundance;
We’ve learned to fly the air like birds, we’ve learned to swim the sea like fish, and yet we have not learned to walk the Earth as brothers and sisters.”-Martin Luther King Jr.
“No one is born hating another person because of the color of their skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”Nelson Mandela
The Colorado Nature Trails Have Been Necessary For My Sanity
A nature hike can help whatever turmoil you are facing. I am so glad I live in a state that has so many winding paths for us to wander. But wherever you live, there is always a place you can go for a walk. Wandering helps open the mind and gain a new perspective. The forest whispers to you, as you wander. Giving you answers, giving you ideas, giving you power. Now is a good time to pull back from the chaos, by turning off the tv, and social media. Once you emerge yourself into nature you will see so many others doing the same. They greet you with smiling faces. They greet you with love. Seeing people escaping just as you are, revitalizes the human connection. If this sounds like exactly what you need during this troubling time you can discover your next nature hike here.
Clarity Will Lead Us To Change
We have been so disconnected from each other being stuck in our homes during the pandemic. But if we all just take a moment to try to find peace in an unpeaceful world. Then we can see that the world around us is not imploding. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming. It is still such a beautiful time to be alive. We must work to gain clarity. And there is no better way to regain clarity than a fresh air nature hike with you and your thoughts.
If we do this more than we can take our epiphanies and use them to ignite change. Change for injustice, change for black lives, change for America. The roaring echos of pain and anger over these last few weeks have taught many of us that we can no longer carry on how we have been. We cannot stay silent. For all the black lives that have been lost and endangered, I am deeply hurt by this brutality, and I will work to learn to create a better future for us all.
