


What is Slow Fashion?
Hey, guys, I’m back with another sustainable brand pick of the week. This brand goes a little more above and beyond when it comes to sustainability. They are a slow fashion brand called Kid Philosophy. You might be wondering what slow fashion is if you’re not familiar with the sustainable fashion world and all of its terms. It can be a confusing world to navigate. But slow fashion is a popular way that fashion brands try to reduce their waste by producing high quality, locally sourced clothing that is made to order by craftsman seamstresses. Typically slow fashion brands are a small business that only sews a small selection of designs. That way they don’t have pre-made items that end up not being bought and as a result get thrown into the landfill.
The Counterculture
The term slow fashion was coined as the counterculture to the fast fashion business model. It is reported that brands like H&M burn 12 tons of unsold garments every year. The idea behind slow fashion is that you are investing in a quality made piece that is simple and elegant enough to stay in your closet and be passed down to other people’s closets for a long long time. The Fashion Industry Is Destroying Our Planet
Since the fashion industry is the second largest contributor to our global waste crisis it is important that the slow fashion movement sets fire to these large fast fashion companies that are destroying our planet at an alarming rate. That is why am introducing you to some of my favorite slow fashion brands. In the hopes that you will fall in love with these brands and what they stand for as much as I have.

I fell in love with all of their designs and decided I needed some comfortable linen pants that I could easily transition from working at home to going out and about without changing.
