Restaurant Scene in Maui
Where we were staying on Ka’anapali beach, at the Westin Ka’anapali Beach Resort. There was a nice mile stretch walk along the water. Past Black Rock that leads to some delicious fine dining and casual resort-style restaurants. When in Maui there are so many good restaurants to try. I always start planning a trip around the food that looks good on yelp and google reviews. The foodie scene is always a big deal in Hawaii. With all the fancy restaurants with unique island styles on classic cuisines. I always opt for a good restaurant with an ocean view because it just makes the food taste better. And this casual atmosphere is a great place to wear laid back resort wear.
What Resort Wear to Dinner
The resort wear styles can easily be worn out to dinner in Hawaii. The dress is typically casual in most places. But many people do like to dress up in their best tropical dresses. I think another tropical style that is just as important as a vibrant palm print is an all-white outfit. All white resort wear with natural color and woven accessories is such an easy ensemble to throw together. It is both timeless and easy to wear.
White Resort Wear Outfit
This outfit I put together has subtle tropical details. Like the colorful hummingbird print on the silk tank top and the woven floral details on the skirt. Both details add a tropical beach vibe to the outfit while still keeping my look casual for an evening out. The top (old, similar here) is from a brand I just mentioned in my previous fashion post, Amour Vert. And the skirt is from another brand I mention a lot, Arnhem, you can read more about this brand in this blog and this blog. Making this outfit another warm-weather choice made by my favorite sustainable clothing brands.
The Setting For A Perfect Evening
This outfit was the perfect mix of casual and dressy for the hip restaurant we decided to try out called the Hula Grill. The restaurant is set up with a formal dining room with high end and trendy tropical decor inside. But they also have a more casual seating area outside on the sandy beach with an ocean view called the “barefoot bar”.
We sat outside and enjoyed some unique food off the menu. I ate a fresh and flavorful salad that was packed with locally grown greens, tropical fruits, avocado, mac-nuts. And topped with lilikoi-mint dressing and surfing goat cheese. It was the most refreshing and delicious salad I have ever tasted. You really can’t beat a restaurant that serves fresh locally grown food with a view. It was the perfect setting for a perfect evening in Maui. After our meal, we enjoyed a nice walk on the beach. By the time we reach our hotel we were able to sit and watch the sunset. I really recommend this restaurant. And don’t forget to get a nice walk in to really take in more of the beautiful Hawaiian scenery.
