Experiencing Burn Out
The hustle and grind lifestyle has really started to wear on me lately. It seems a lot of people are feeling the same way. Stress is a heavy issue of mine that I don’t talk about. It often weighs on me more than anyone can understand. I feel like we all get caught up in rushing through life trying to get our work done. We often forget the importance of slowing down even for a moment. Navigating this technology-addicted world is a first for everyone. We are just starting to see the side effects of staring at a screen all day. Our jobs make it hard to escape this reality but it is important to take some of your spare time to shut off all electronics and find peace in the silence.
Getting Back To Nature
My first suggestion for unplugging is experiencing the outdoors. The more trees, the better. There is nothing better than being surrounded by nothing but trees. Breathing in the fresh air with no one else around. If I am feeling overwhelmed the first thing I do is flee to open space. Like a secluded trail where I can hike my troubles away. There is nothing better than pumping fresh oxygen through your lungs. With the smell of the natural world and the sounds of the rustling trees and scurrying wildlife. This is the easiest way to get a refreshed mind and spirit. So take a hike, guys. Trust me its time to put the phone down.
Another release that I have been considering is starting a creative project that makes me feel productive that is away from all screens. I am talking about going back to the basics. Start using some of my spare time working with something that I can physically build with my hands. I want to use more of my creative side. For something like pottery, painting, drawing, writing, sewing, knitting, or cooking.
All of these simple things that we are to busy for now is something we need to bring back. I have never learned how to sew. But this weekend I am going to go to a few thrift stores to find myself a sewing machine. I have a few projects that I have been dying to start up. And right now is the perfect time to go for it. I am also considering picking up needlework too. Who knows but it is exciting stuff that I can’t wait to get my hands on.
What are you doing to unplug this weekend? I could use all of your ideas and tips!
